Task

 

The task was to create a news print ad during the holiday time for an imaginary product. I was assigned a paper clip cookie cutter.

 

Solution

 

Paper clip cookie cutter is a mouth full, I wanted to come up with a name for the product that would not only serve as a simple house hold utensil name but also something that would describe the function of the product. I finalized with "Cookie Clip" to be the name of the product.  After that I chose to make the ad festive and use simple holiday colours (red, green, white).  The ad would be introducing the product to the world, so it only made sense to design the ad in such a way that it would elaborate of the function and audience to whom it served. There would be 2 ads launched during the month of November on the weekend mainstream newspapers as well as an ad in the November issue of the Toronto Life Magazine.
